From dancing down the supermarket aisles, to performances with my backing dancer (poor sister!) to an audience of any willing friends and family members, I have always had a love for dancing anywhere and everywhere. I attended my first ballet class at the age of 3 and have not stopped dancing since!

I was lucky to receive excellent dance training growing up which led to successfully auditioning for 4 of the top dance courses at University. I was accepted by my first choice, Roehampton. I undertook training at the prestigious Pineapple Dance Studios in London and went on to qualify with the International Dance Teaching Association, achieving Distinction and as an Acrobatic Dance Teacher with the Acrobatic Arts. I have also trained in Barre and as an Alixa Flexibility instructor.

I thoroughly enjoy many styles of dance, having undertaken dance exams in styles such as Ballet, Contemporary, Freestyle, Modern, Jazz and Street.

I have been lucky enough to work with dance artists such as Flip Van Huffel and Ben Duke and attended workshops with dancers from Rambert Dance Company. I have fond memories dancing in venues across the UK performing and competing, including successfully auditioning to represent the South West in London with a dance company.

After qualifying as a dance teacher, I was proud to be one of few successful applicants to be selected to teach as part of a new Pineapple Dance Studios project called ‘Pineapple Community’.

In most recent years I fulfilled my childhood dream of opening my own dance school to provide opportunities, training and a shared love for dance I was lucky to gain.

I teach a range of classes, with a focus on welcoming all ages and abilities, hold a current DBS check, complete regular Safeguard training and am a qualified First Aider too.

Alongside my dance work, I have experience within a Physio team having worked as a Clinical Lead and received training as an Assistant Physio!

Joining the Ballet Bums family is a wonderful opportunity and a perfect blend of Ballet & Fitness combined! As they say, “it’s ballet, but not as you know it”!

Looking forward to seeing you in a class soon!

“Once you are at the barre that it is all you concentrate on, so all of the every day baggage has to be left at the door. Corrections are given without humiliation! I always feel energised after class and just wish I could start every day with 60mins in Emily’s studio!””
