BalletBums Locations Ipswich Kara Brooks

Kara trained at Stella Mann College in London where she graduated with a diploma in Performing Arts. Her first job out of college was the Thursford Christmas Spectacular where she performed for members of the Royal family.

She made her west end debut in ‘Jus Like That’ at the Garrick the following year and continued with the show for two subsequent UK tours. During her earlier years performing, she worked on various fashion and hair shows including the L’oreal Matrix tours and Austin Reed summer collection.

It was during this time that Kara accepted a job offer on the touring show ‘Spirit of the Horse’. This ignited a love of the big top and she soon found herself at the Hippodrome circus training to do flying and solo trapeze acts. After a brief stint at the Hippodrome she went to Belguim to perform in the renowned Bouglione circus with a Mexican flying trapeze troupe, ‘The flying Rodogels’. In 2007 Kara was offered her dream job dancing and performing a solo aerial silk act, in the internationally acclaimed show ‘Pirates Adventure’ in Mallorca and thereafter their sister show ‘Come fly with me’ at the Casino.

It was here in Mallorca that Kara met her husband and in 2012 retired from the stage whilst pregnant with their first child. Since performing Kara has taught for the Pauline Quirke Academy in Mallorca, as well as teaching ballet to the Mallorcan champion rhythmic gymnastic squad.

She moved back to the UK in 2019 and is thrilled to embark on her new role instructing BalletBums.

“BalletBums couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. I love how versatile the classes are and the fact that anyone, any shape and any size can participate and realise how great ballet is for the body and the mind.”
